My last watch from Amazon was the quartz Invicta dive watch, now on my wrist. It’s a great watch for the price…Amazon gave me a good deal and timely delivery. But most jewelers these days are jaded, leaving battery replacement to their sales clerks, who give a scripted statement about their inability to get a good seal, damaging the crystal, etc. Living on the ocean, I need a very water resistant watch. After seeing this one and reading the revues, I noticed the specials link and clicked it. The watch was offered for fifty-one bucks, if I applied for the Chase/Amazon Visa card. That was thirty bucks down, so I filled out the Chase/Amazon Visa application, which asked questions not included in the stack of preapproved credit card applications stuffed into one of my drawers…mother’s maiden name, employers phone number, etc. Well, after filling out all of the blanks, I was informed that my purchase had not been processed. So I telephoned the 888 number for Chase/Amazon Visa, and was told that they had not received my application. Well, I ordered the watch the next evening, on my old account, but was told that Amazon would not ship to my post office box, as it has in the past. So I gave them my street address and ordered this watch. Now I am left to wonder if the Chase Visa special was an identity theft popup scam, or if Amazon has suffered some change in management which treats its customers like victims, as so many businesses do these days. This is the only time that Amazon has failed to make good on a special offer. I’ve been entirely happy with Amazon in the past. Right now, I am not happy. I hope that the watch arrives and proves worthy of the hassle and the worry. I also hope that this purchase is not the beginning of bad news to come.

I ordered the #AT0200-05E and the #BM8180-03E and I was disappointed with them both.

My first complaint was these two watches diminutive size and weight. Also, I did not like that the case of the #AT0200-05E was brushed stainless on the sides but polished and shiny on top. I thought that the red on the second had and some of the lettering was a garish color to put on a watch. They were just not well done in my opinion which is something you want in a watch.

In the past I have bought a Fortis Flieger Automatic which is a really nice watch and the only pain with the Fortis is that you have to take it in to get it cleaned every couple of years or it won’t work correctly. I also have a Luminox 3000 Series dive watch which is also a really well done watch and the only pain with it is the wrist band is rubber and has to be replaced every year or two. The Luminox 3000 is lighter and only a little larger then the Citizen #AT0200-05E, but the Luminox LOOKS like a substantial object and next to it, the #AT0200-05E looks like a toy.

Before you buy a Citizen, I think you should try a search for Luminox, they cost about $100 more but are well worth it.

I purchased this Eco-Drive and was disappointed. The face was too small and cluttered, and the day/date were barely readable. I decided to upgrade to the BM640000E, and couldn’t be happier.

There were three things wrong with the watch when received – 1.Second hand moved in 2-second increments rather than one second movements, giving 5 beats during 10 seconds. 2.Second hand did not register correctly on the second markers. 3.Could not set the day of the week on the day/date calendar. May have been a bad watch(quality control?). Plan on replacing the band. I really wanted it to work, but returned for credit and will try another brand.

    1. I recently purchased this watch for an upcoming trip, where I would need something reliable and dependable, but nothing fancy. The watch arrived a couple days before my departure, and I was immediately disappointed with the band. For a men’s watch, this is a very flimsy, feminine looking band.

    2. Band was changed for black rubber, then I realized the date/calendar function was no longer working. On checking the website, there are some special instructions for setting this function. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THESE, as they are not like standard watches and failure to follow WILL result in damage to the watch.

    3. This watch is apparently so cheaply built Citizen doesn’t even stamp the back of the case with mfg information, but just applies a sticker. A STICKER?!?! Come on, even Timex stamps the case backs.

I have been buying Tissot watches in the past, with great results, but wanted to try Citizen this time. My mistake. Back to Tissot for me!
